Trail Masters makes a difference in our community. Not only do we conduct our regular clinics and tours, we volunteer our time, our products and our services.
Helping out mountain bike organizations:
Trail Masters makes it a priority to get involved in volunteer events for mountain bike organizations such as International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA), Westchester Mountain Bike Association (WMBA), and the Concerned Long Island Mountain Bicyclists (C.L.I.M.B.). Some of the things that we've done with them are trail maintenance, trail building, free skills clinics, and other promotional events.
Charity Events for Kids:
Trail Masters has done a number of charitable kids events in the past and will continue to do so as long as the demand is there. Tom and Mary are both NYS Certified Teachers, which only helps with these events, and we have a rental fleet big enough to accommodate large groups of kids. In the past, we were the main event for the Boy Scouts of America Bike-O-Ree. We were even able to loan an adapted bicycle to a teenager with special physical needs. Most recently, we volunteered for a "Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day" through IMBA. We took out a group of kids from Big Brothers and Big Sisters. These events are so much fun!
Trail Maintenance:
On a regular basis, Tom will work on local trails. He will be on a ride just for fun, see something that needs to be fixed, stop and fix it. He is adamant about respecting the trails, including not riding on them when they are wet and not making go-arounds. When he sees that someone has illegally altered a trail, he goes right back and redirects the trail in the right direction. He takes advantage of his position as a trail guide to educate riders, new and experienced, on the importance of trail etiquette.
